5th-8th amendments

Witness- someone who sees an event and reports what happened.

Indict- accused of a crime.

Testify- give testimony in a court of law.

Grand Jury- listens to the indicts and the accusations, and decides whether they are guilty or not.

Due Process- laws must be fair.

Capital Punishment- execution: a person being killed for something they've done.

Excessive- beyond normal limits.

Bail- release after a security has been paid.

Peer
- a person who is of equal standing with another in a group

I think that after someone is accused of a serious crime, they should not get all the rights they had before. Simply because they cannot be trusted. If they committed a crime once, they what would stop them from doing it again. But I think the only ones that shouldn't get all the rights, are the ones who committed a very serious crime, such as stealing many items, murder or kidnapping. Also, kids under the age of 14, should only lose some of their rights for a certain amount of time, and if they prove that they deserve to have them back, then they could gradually get their rights back.

2nd-4th amendments

1. Guns should be allowed in one's vehicle if they are not loaded, and put in a case. A gun could save someones life if they were in danger, so it could be a good thing to have. A reason that guns should not be allowed on someone, is because they could use it in an inappropriate way and harm an innocent person. Or someone could get hurt even on accident if the gun was not on safety lock, and was played with by a child. I personally think that people should be allowed to carry guns, because the only people that should have guns, are those who are trusted and safe with them. I do not think guns should be carried around that are loaded, and should be safely put away in a vehicle.

2. I do not think it is fair to force people to open their homes to soldiers, because some soldiers may be traumatized from war, and shouldn't be around children or other people. Also if the soldiers were found, it may put the family in danger.

3. I think that police should be able to search a house if they have any type of drugs or if they are harming someone else. Also if a child or adult has been taken and that person is suspicious.

First Amendment

1.Give a speech before a large gathering of people and express opinions about the president's abilities.

2.Circulate a petition calling for the repeal of an unpopular law.

3.Post your opinion on your blog about an issue being discussed at a local school board meeting.

4.
Write a letter for the editorial page of a newspaper in which you criticize a state legislator.

The first amendment is important to me because I have my own opinions on religions and my family does also. So I think everyone should be able to have their own beliefs and chose what ever religion pleases them.
