9th&10th amendments
- States can issue a drivers license, teachers license, doctors license, etc.
- They have authority over marriages and divorces.
- States can set their own speed limits and are in charge or caring for the roads.
- Restaurants have to follow certain health requirements that are chosen by the state.
- The police are in charge or keeping the people safe and the highways.
3 powers states share with the federal government:
- They have the power to tax.
- They can pass laws.
- States and federal government can punish criminals.
a. Issue a teaching license to someone who has applied and has met all the requirements.
-This is a state's responsibility.
b. Make a treaty with a foreign country
-This is the federal governments responsibility.
c. Set health codes for restaurants
-This is the state's responsibility.
d. Issue a marriage license
-This is the state's responsibility.
e. Declare war
-This is the federal governments responsibility.

5th-8th amendments
Witness- someone who sees an event and reports what happened.
Indict- accused of a crime.
Testify- give testimony in a court of law.
Grand Jury- listens to the indicts and the accusations, and decides whether they are guilty or not.
Due Process- laws must be fair.
Capital Punishment- execution: a person being killed for something they've done.
Excessive- beyond normal limits.
Bail- release after a security has been paid.
Peer- a person who is of equal standing with another in a group
I think that after someone is accused of a serious crime, they should not get all the rights they had before. Simply because they cannot be trusted. If they committed a crime once, they what would stop them from doing it again. But I think the only ones that shouldn't get all the rights, are the ones who committed a very serious crime, such as stealing many items, murder or kidnapping. Also, kids under the age of 14, should only lose some of their rights for a certain amount of time, and if they prove that they deserve to have them back, then they could gradually get their rights back.
